Dental Implants in El Monte CA
Dental implants are an excellent way to replace lost teeth and provide a more permanent and comfortable solution than removable partial dentures or complete dentures. Choosing dental implants can provide great stability and support that other treatments can’t match. Dental implants are the closest solution to your own natural teeth!
Dental implants are strong, durable and stable, and can often a lifetime. Like natural, teeth they also do require to be cleaned and taken care of. Dental Implants are most commonly made out of titanium, which is the same biocompatible material that is used for artificial joints (knees and hips). There is also the option of having Zirconium implants which are metal free. Dental implants are small fixtures that are gently inserted into the jawbone in the area of the missing tooth. What is the Process of Getting Dental Implants?
The first visit is to take the appropriate X-rays and CT scan (3 D Xray) to evaluate the jawbone and its current state of health. We also do a complete examination of your teeth and gums to make sure your overall dental health is at its best. Once it is determined that dental implants are the appropriate solution for you we give you a detailed explanation of the process. Briefly, stated the area is gently numbed and we make sure you are fully numb and comfortable before starting. Sleep dentistry and sedation is also available if needed. Then the area is prepared to accept the dental implant. The process is very gentle and tolerable. Then the dental implant is then gently inserted into the area and the gum is secured around the implant. It usually takes 3 months for the dental implant to set to the jawbone. At that point, an impression (mold), of the implant is taken and sent to the laboratory to make a customized implant crown (the tooth). The crown is secured to the dental implant via an abutment or a screw. There is no need for numbing when the crown is being delivered. Because implants are made of titanium or zirconium, they do not get cavities, but they still need to be cleaned and maintained like your own natural teeth. We like to check the implants at least once a year to make ensure their health.
